As a Chapter Advocate, we rely on you to be the hands & feet of the Foster Florida community.
Building a chapter is a process, one we’re here to help you with. Following board approval, chapters build support & participation over time. After reaching some basic milestones and attending our Advocate Training, a chapter launches & officially becomes a full member of our organization!
Advocates are unpaid volunteers who play a crucial role in Foster Florida. We estimate an Advocate needs a minimum of 10 hours of free time each month to dedicate to their Foster Florida responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to:
- Volunteer recruitment
- Foster parent recruitment
- Social media
- Communications
- Fundraising
- Community Outreach
Successful Advocates grow a team who can help them shoulder these responsibilities. We recommend new Advocates immediately begin looking for someone to function as their Co-Advocate so that they are not alone in the Chapter launching process.
Advocates are required to participate in monthly calls with our Director of Outreach, periodic team calls with all other Advocates and must attend bi-annual training in Gainesville. Advocates work hand in hand with our Director of Outreach, Lacy Basford, who will answer all your questions about Advocate duties and Chapter responsibilities.
If you are interested in becoming an Advocate, please complete the first step by filling out the application below. You will be asked to upload your resume at the end and following submission will be taken to the next step, our potential Advocate questionnaire.
