What is a Frontline Family?

A frontline family is any family currently caring for a child involved in the domestic foster care system. This includes:

• Relative caregivers

• Non-relative caregivers

• Licensed foster parents

• Families who have adopted through the foster care system

Please note: This definition does not include families who have adopted privately or internationally, or family members caring for children who have not been formally removed from their biological parents by court order.

What is a Villager?

A Villager is someone with a heart to serve frontline families. We believe everyone can do something—whether it's providing meals, offering childcare, teaching a skill, donating supplies, giving financially, or simply praying. Every act of support makes a difference.

Does Foster Florida license homes?

No, Foster Florida does not license foster homes. Our role is to support families after they have been licensed and a child has been placed in their care. We also support both relatives and non-relatives who have had a child placed with them.

On occasion, we partner with our local Community Based Care organizations (CBCs) to host events that help recruit more foster homes.

Do you currently offer any preventative support?

At this time, we do not have programs focused on preventative support for children at risk of entering foster care. While it is a dream of ours to one day provide support to families both before and after removal, our current focus remains on supporting frontline families. We recognize the importance of preventative work and are grateful for other amazing organizations that are actively leading in that space. We're committed to staying in our lane and doing what we do best—walking alongside families in the thick of it.
